Historical fiction is one of my favorite generes. It basically tied with mystery/thriller for my favorite. I have learned more history from reading historical fiction than I did in public school and college combined. I have currently been reading as much WWII fiction as possible. Our country is broken and the cultish turn to socialism is frightening. We learn history so we don't repeat our mistakes. This book has a main character who doesn't believe in the Nazi cause but becomes involved in the war effort because he's German. Hitler frightened the German population who didn't agree with him into silence. Half the population of the U.S. has been silenced in the same way because they don't want to be called one of the "basket of deplorables" as referenced by Hillary. I'm a Navy veteran and still find myself biting my tongue as I see our country moving so far from what it was created as constitutionally because that "racist" or "white supremist" tag is so disgustingly abhorrent to me. My father fought in WWII. I read to try to find the bravery his generation had to say "no we will not let these atrocities happen."
