And as someone who has endured significant trauma, seeing a so-called inspirational, faith-based book begin this way is a major turn off. I understand that the way she opened the book was a big deal for her, but I certainly don’t find it relatable and I can’t imagine a lot of people would. I never want to minimize a struggle, but this did feel really superficial to me. Obviously, I didn’t read far enough to know what else she may have endured, but I think she is going to immediately lose the regular crowd with that beginning.
