Book opens with author breaking down because she lost a beauty pageant. she then needs the voice of god in her head to realize it's not the end of the world. so off-putting. that's partially because I find christian preaching and rhetoric upsetting, as the religion and most of its denominations are a huge source of queerphobia in the world. I checked the author's twitter out and saw she recently did an interview on "lifetoday.org" which is a christian organization that is anti-progressive and anti-gay. I'm going to assume the worst here and leave it at that.
