There wasn’t much to this excerpt, but from what I read it seems interesting. It’s rare to read the point of view of a female firefighter because they can be few and far between and are often newbies. I like the idea that she will need to find an arsonist that might come after her as well. Not so sure about the possible romantic involvement that the summary hints at. I really don’t think a female protagonist should always have some kind of romantic relationship. Sometimes a woman can be in her story and have a conflict she needs to solve, and not have any romantic relationship involved. That to me would be refreshing. In fact, these two could just be partners and comrades at the firehouse, but no need for obsession or distraction. It does make me want to read more stories of female firefighters and their experiences.
