This would be the first book I've read written by J.R. Ward and I wanted to see what the hype was all about. So far I may veer towards overrated. First, there's a little too much firefighter technical lingo I had to skim over. Secondly, the author sets up a bunch of storylines right off the bat- Anne's impending doom, the love interest with Danny- but somehow they come off a bit typical/ trite/cliched. Either these end up falling flat or possibly pick up at a (hopefully) faster pace with some surprises in store. I'm 50/50 about this one, I'd continue reading to find out which way it goes.
