Love a story about a female fire fighter actually doing the job
Most stories about fire fighters seem to be about men, and even then they seem to be more about their sexy muscles than actually about fighting fires. I love that this book opens not only with a firefighter actually actively going on a call, but that it's not highly romanticized and instead is dirty and gritty, the danger very real and not highly sexualized.
Mysteries and thrillers are outside my typical genres, but this is so compellingly written than I need to know what happens next to Anne. I've heard of J.R. Ward before but have never read any of her books, and now I'm tempted to go see if my parents (who ARE into mysteries/thrillers) have any of her other books on their shelves, because I think I could definitely get addicted.
