Consumed starts with Anne, a firefighter, and her team headed to a fire. J.R. Ward introduces sexual attraction with Anne and one of her teammates right away and then bam, hits you with a situation gone bad right away. In many ways this is very similar to some of Ward's other series. The writing style is very similar, with parts that make you chuckle, parts that drive me a little crazy, a lot of emotion and a lot of action. I think anyone who likes her other books would be interested in this new firefighter series, especially if they like the action without all the paranormal activity that shows up in most of her books.
