Anne is a firefighter just as her father and sibling were. In fact, her brother was a chief and she has big footsteps to follow. The first look starts with a call out to a fire at a warehouse. Anne is tasked with finding any people in the building and getting them out. Her partner and she split up, with Emilio going upstairs and Anne staying on the lower level. Things were going fine with getting vagrants out of the building when suddenly there was an explosion. The first look ends with Anne thinking that she will die. Wow! I really want to read this book, because I respect and admire all firefighters and because my brother is a Chief in Florida. I have tried on his call out gear and it is really heavy, so I cannot imagine Anne charging into the building and running around looking for vagrants. She is already a hero to me, and that was before the explosion that rocked her world and sets the stage for an dynamite of a book!
