Casati really said, “You want a mad, powerful woman? I got you.” And then promptly delivered on that promise.

While the Greek mythology aspect of this novel delights my child(and adult)hood obsession with all things mythical, the pure storytelling delighted the raging feminist in me. As the saying goes, “Well behaved women rarely make history” and there’s a reason for that. Historically, Clytemnestra is painted a a plotting and vengeful sort, and why wouldn’t she be? Men have written most history and any woman that cannot be cowed is “crazy” and “evil”. This book really dives into the “why” of her story. The plot and story as a whole can feel heavy on the heart, but the writing and the sheer ✨powerful woman✨ of the book made my heart soar.

The cover of this book is stunning. I didn’t even read the title right off the bat, I just saw the gorgeous cover and was hooked.

If Greek mythology and retellings are your jam, definitely give this a read!
