This book was very enjoyable and I loved it! I enjoy reading Greek mythology retellings (like Circe), so I was excited to read this one by Constanza Casati. This one focused on the story behind Clytemnestra, who is the wife of Agamemnon and the daughter of King Tyndareus of Sparta. Her husband is a tyrant who was responsible for commanding the Greek forces during the Trojan War. I found the author’s writing to be poetic and beautiful. I like that this novel starts from when Clytemnestra is young and growing up as the daughter of a king and also explores her marriage to her husband Agamemnon. Clytemnestra’s life is very tragic and parts of the novel were definitely pretty difficult to read because of this, but I really appreciate how complex her character was as well. It was also nice getting to read about other mythological characters like Odysseus who appear in the novel. The cover of this novel is beautiful and the artwork featured on it looks fantastic. I am looking forward to reading more of this author’s work in the future!
