Amazing retelling
Clytemnestra is a return to the story of the Trojan war, except this time women's voices matter in a way they haven't during the traditional tellings of these stories. Clytemnestra is the wife of Agamemnon and sister to Helen, who launched a thousand ships (but did she really?)
It's amazing how "murderous Queen" is transformed into a woman deserving empathy and healing when we actually listen to her story instead of hearing it through the perspective of those who find murdering your own child a worthy cause. I won't lie - I wanted revenge for her and her daughter no less than she did.
If you love mythological retellings - you really can't go wrong here! I can't wait to see what Casati comes up with next!
CW- death of a child, war, violence in general and against women specifically, grief and traumatic loss, possibly others I've forgotten
