Clytemnestra is the story of a character, mostly in the background, in Greek mythology. A strong woman who becomes a powerful Queen, sister to Helen of Sparta/Troy. I love how within the first few chapters Clytemnestra is showcased as a powerful woman who will not stand down from what she believes is right, even if it goes against her Spartan heritage. This story begins with Clytemnestra as a young teen and and her life in Sparta with her sister Hellen as they prepare for the future and marriage.

I would love to read the full version of this book because it shows a different perspective on a classic Greek mythology tale that seems invigorating. I can easily see this being an award winner similar to Madeline Miller's Song of Achilles. Mostly because the author uses the same set of famous characters, but tells the tale from a unique POV. A POV that can give Greek mythology retelling lovers new pieces to the puzzle.
