It’s clearly very character driven, which I usually like in books. The premise and setting are interesting. I love a good strong, cunning female main character. However, I haven’t been able to connect with the characters or become emotionally invested. At least, not from this excerpt. I’m not sure if they’re relatable or likable (yet). It’s hard to tell without reading more, but I’m not hooked yet.
