Wow! This is a total page turner from start to finish. A historical fiction book based on an unimaginable story of a young girl who survived at Auschwitz concentration camp and then became unjustly imprisoned in the Soviet camps. Her soul goal was to survive the unfortunate circumstances in which she finds herself not once but twice. I was impressed that Cilka's constant love and concern was always for the others. Those she share a quarters with, other prisoners she cared for in the infirmary, even those who hurt her. Heather Morris is a wonderful storyteller. Not only was she successful at conveying Cilka’s story, but did so in such a way that keeps you glued to the pages. This book was received as an ARC from MacMillian Publishers in exchange for an honest review. Thank you for a great read.
