Another very well written account of a very sad time in our history. I did not think it could top the first book by the author, but it was equally engaging. I think the character development was outstanding. I could not help but feel the emotions of the characters along with the circumstances they were living in. As a lover of historical fiction, it reads as though it really is not history, but the sad fact is that it very much is.
The only draw back is that I wish this book was also published in large print. I have slight vision problems and my reading is much easier with large print books. I can totally see this book being made into a future movie for the big screen. A gem to be read and understood by young readers.
