I read this book after first reading the tattooist of auschwitz.

I was slightly disapointed in the main character but equally, we cannot judge until we walk in someone else’s shoes. Cilka’s journey was honest and true which made the book so much more interesting, but also added a difficult and harrowing account of a journey of a young woman from the camps.

I also really liked about this book that it moved into life after the main war and the Holocaust and shared her account of life in the prison camps after all of this.

I found this book really sad. It was easy to connect with all the different types of characters and warned to them which made the book more interesting and enjoyable to read.

Overall, I would highly recommend this read to everyone to learn more about the realities of history including the sad and real life events that happened.
