I bought The Tatooist of Auschwitz in the Atlanta airport and spent the hours of my plane flight engrossed in the story. I finished it the same day. I felt like I knew the people in the book. My heart was overcome by emotions for them. When I saw that one of the women from the book would be in a new novel, I knew I wanted to read it.
As soon as I opened Cilka’s Journey, I was drawn into the story. I ached for every woman in the book. The injustice of her story is unimaginable. I found myself wanting to rescue her. Of course, that isn’t how the true story went. We are forced to follow her through her real life. Her indomitable spirit is truly a beacon to all of us. I’m looking forward to more.
