This book is NOT a continuation of the first book, The Tattooist of Auschwitz. This book is a stand alone story. It is more historical fiction then the non fiction account of the first book.
I loved the character/person Chilka. She was so strong, so brave, so resourceful with trying to understand changing circumstances. I wept with frustration at the abuses and atrocities that she had to go through.
Overall, I felt that the author did a great job writing an untold story of prisoners of Auschwitz that really hasn't been touched upon.
I wish that I could know more about the real Chilka and what she did when she got back to the Czech Republic.
It does sound like she was finally able to find happiness and I hope that she knew how strong and brave she truly was!
