If you haven't got a chance to read The Tattooist of Auschwitz, you don't need to worry about it. Cilka is one of the characters in the first book. About Cilka, she is the Auschwitz survivor but gets thrown in a labor camp on charges of having helped the Nazis. I feel she is so unlucky although her beauty helps her to survive.

If I have to pick a favorite, I still liked The Tattooist of Auschwitz's story compared to Cilka's Journey. I found Cilka's character was just too flat. I didn't get her emotion from the book. It might be intentional, after being tortured in the concentration camp and sent to another labor camp, most of us probably no longer have any emotion. Overall, it's a good read.
