Stop everything you’re doing and preorder this book right this instant (pub date October 1). This is by far my favorite book I’ve read this year. It’s the touching story of Cilka, a young woman who survived Auschwitz any way she could, only to be sentenced to 15 years of hard labor after her release. Heather Morris does a beautiful job of writing the story, intermixing fact with imagined stories and people based upon her research, though the subject is heavy. Reading what some of these women endured brought me to tears more than once. Through it all, Cilka finds strength she never knew she had, strength that I don’t know if I could muster if faced with a similar situation. What more can I say? I LOVED this book. Heather Morris has written an INCREDIBLE story, and I’m so glad to have had the opportunity to read it and share it with you. Thank you so much to St Martins Press for my advance copy of Cilka's Journey. This review also shared on Instagram @RebeccaReviewedIt.
