What an amazing story of resilience and strength! And how sad to read yet another example of how Hitler wasn't the only evil one in World War Two. How Russia punished those for actions over which they had no choice is nearly as bad as what Germany did :(
This book is beautifully written and drew me in from the first chapter. I couldn't get enough of Cilka's story. I liked the way it alternated between her current experience in Russia as well as her experience in the concentration camp. Although I didn't read The Tattooist, I had no trouble with this sequel. I will admit that this story certainly made me want to read the first one.
The information at the end of the book that tells the rest of Cilka's story was such a great way to end the story and not leave her story unfinished.
