I read and really liked reading about the tattooist of Auschwitz, and now, in addition to Lale's story, we get to hear about what another prisoner's life was probably like during the war and Hitler's long occupation. This time, we meet one of Lale's fellow prisoners, a beautiful sixteen year old girl named Cecelia Klein. Cecelia's story, Cilka to her friends, tells the story of the survival of a beautiful Jewish girl imprisoned in the concentration camp. Her beauty attracts the attentions of the Nazi guards and we hear about what Cilka does in order to survive. Unfortunately, what Cilka does to survive is not well received by her liberators and she finds herself imprisoned because of what she did to survive.
