Heather really poured her whole heart into writing Cilka's story. I just still cannot fathom the stuff this girl endured. The story line just flowed, and you really felt you were right there with the character, going through what she did. Having the same fear, anger, and whatnot feelings. Cilka was taken to Auschwitz-Birkenau concentration camp at the age of 16, where she quickly was used in the night because of her looks. The war has ended and freedom is right there, until she is then charged with being a collaborator because she was sleeping with the enemy. She is then shipped off the a Siberian prison camp, where those charged with war crimes are all taken. She then endures a similar lifestyle as the other camp. At least in this camp, there are those who are a bit nicer and she even meets someone her heart lets her fall for. Great read!
