I found out about this book right after I finished "The Tattooist of Auschwitz" (which I loved), so I was excited for the chance to read this excerpt. It starts with Cilka being moved to Birkenau for her "crimes" at Auschwitz with Officer Schwarzhuber. Since she speaks several languages, she is also accused of being a spy, and her punishment is more hard labor. We are offered a flashback to her arrival at Auschwitz where she meets Lale and Gita which was nice. I did enjoy the excerpt; I wish it was a bit longer, but I guess I'll just have to be patient and wait for the book!
