This book asked the question, what would you do to survive? We are all too familiar with the atrocities of the Holocaust, but in Cilka's Journey by Heather Morriss, we are exposed to a less well-known horror. Women who were selected by Nazi officers were allowed to survive, but were raped and mistreated. Once the war was over, these actions were not viewed as survival, but as collusion with the Nazis. Women were sent from one concentration camp to another, believing their torture was over, but being punished for their choices.
