It’s always hard to imagine how human beings can treat other human beings in such a cruel way. I’ve read The Lilac Girls and other books depicting life in concentration camps. I was not familiar with the additional atrocity of Russians making a decision to send survivors of concentration camps, such as Cilka to Siberia for more punishment because of a lack of understanding of what these women had to do to survive in the concentration camps. Heather Marsh has chosen to write about a difficult subject. Not being in the frame of mind to read about cruelty at the present time, I would not want to read more of the book at the present time but may at a later time.
