Cilka's Journey is already heartbreaking in the first few pages, but Cilka is resilient and strong even at her young age. The beginning moves very quickly through events in Cilka's life but suddenly flashes back to the beginning of the story in Auschwitz. I imagine in the rest of the book, the events of the past and present will unfold in contrast, slowly peeling back the layers of what Cilka has experienced. I loved the author's note at the beginning, and I am curious about how Cilka's future unfolds. The cover seems fitting for the book.
