I loved this book so much. I thought when I first started reading that it was going to be all about Haze Evans and her column. Haze ends up in a comma within the first few pages of the book and then the story unfolds by trying to figure out the best way to honor Haze while the town prays she recovers. Susan McGrath is the current publisher at the local newspaper Haze has been working at for the last several decades. Susan decides to enlist her youngest son, Sam, into helping her read and rerun old columns from Haze's past. This allows for a new generation of readers to get a glimpse of the life their very own "radical hag" had lived and all the ways she was touched by the current events at the time. It also helps heal the rift between mother and son. I loved that there are recipes sprinkled through and I even plan to make the "It's Time Toffee Bars". This is easily one of the most delightful books I've read all year!
