Having read Lorna Lasdvik previously, I was excited to experience not only her exceptional writing again, but also the unique delivery of her book Chronicles of a Radical Hag (with recipes).

A large portion of this story is told through the columns Haze(l) had written in the past, which the newspaper staff decided to reprint when Haze suffers a stroke. The old columns coupled with the responses from certain readers are also printed which is a clever way to introduce the reader to more characters in the story.

Various topics and real life tragedies are mentioned in these newspaper columns and the opinion of what I'm sure to be Ms. Landvik's is deduced through Hazes' opinion and writing. I felt the political opinions of Haze were pretty obvious and I am not a fan or reading about politics however, she never seemed to take it too far, which was nice.

I loved the charming and not so charming characters as well. There was a lot of diversity in the characters and with all their different flaws a large part of the story was their journey and how they came to work out their differences. This book holds a tremendous amount of meaningful life messages that were very refreshing. I enjoyed it.
