A coming of age story about a strong-willed columnist who spoke her mind with spunk and humility through it all. Beloved Haze Evans has been writing an editorial column for the Gazette since 1964; she recently suffered a stroke and remains in a coma. To fill the void temporarily, Susan, her publisher, begins running Haze’s first column submissions from 50 years ago, along with some of the responses originally submitted. It is through these articles and responses we learn Hazel’s story, her struggles and triumphs, and begin to understand exactly the kind of woman it takes to rise above the times and become a radical hag!

The cover art is fun and grabbed my attention right off the rip. I can’t wait to hear more of Haze’s stories and anecdotes, and especially to see what kind of recipes she offers. I have a feeling she is going to surprise us all. A perfect read for this Spring/Summer season.
