Oh my gosh I have so many thoughts on this book! First of all, I started and finished it within the same day, which is always a good sign. A YA debut novel by queen Ali Hazelwood about a couple of chess rivals? What's not to love! I immediately downloaded a chess app (and I'm sure I'm not alone in this), and already feel like I'm drawn into the world.

I loved Nolan's character, I felt like he didn't put up with Mallory's nonsense but was also didn't run away and was there for her in the end. The writing style was easy to follow and I wasn't lost in the chess language, even though I knew nothing about it previously. And, although a sequel is definitely not necessary, the end left me wanting to know more about the lives of Mallory and Nolan!

Overall, I thoroughly enjoyed this book. There were a couple moments that I thought were unnecessary/ slightly unrealistic, but hey- that's why it's fiction! I will definitely read anything that Ali Hazelwood puts out in the future:)
