I have fallen in love with almost every single book that Ali Hazelwood has written. I'm not usually a fan of modern romance books but Ali makes all her romance plots so interesting. From Love, theoretically representing a science academic romance to Check and Mate representing a chess-sport enemies to lovers romance. Her novels including this one always includes a lot of relatable pop culture from BTS to Gen Z terms, and as a Gen Z myself, I love it! All her characters are super relatable and of course the love interest are always drool-worthy including Nolan. I always love the idea of chess as not just a traditional board game but a game of life as each move you make is similar to each decision you decide to make in life. Calculating, risky, and aiming to win. Life is just a game of chess. and I am looking forward to read the enemies to lovers romance blossoming between Mallory and Nolan.
