I loved this book!!
This book is a young adult/new adult romance following a young woman who used to be a chess all star, but decided to drop it all at 14 due to family circumstances. This is until her best friend drags her into a chess tournament around four years later.
Alli Hazelwood is one of my favorite newer romance authors. I've read two of her other books and enjoyed them thoroughly. Especially as a woman in STEM, her books are incredibly relatable, and I tend to have a lot of shared experiences with the main characters. This book is a little different especially with the characters being younger than in her other books (18-20 compared to 25-30ish). I'm really intrigued with these new characters. They seem to be very well developed and realistic.
I love the writing style of this book as it is very character driven and easy to follow. You can definitely enjoy the story without thinking too hard about the writing.
