I had a put this book on hold at my library and it just happened to be my turn right after I had finished a re-watch of The Queen's Gambit. It was fun to stay in the Chess world a little longer. In fact it might be time to re listen to the music from Chess the musical....

I have read most of Ali Hazelwood's books and many of her characters feel like different iterations of each other. This books was no exception. I definitely felt like I'd met Mallory and Nolan before, but that didn't make me love them any less. There was a good amount of low level angst without being too stressful. I felt the like the romantic relationship was actually less angsty than Mallory's relationships with her family and best friend.

The MCs were lovable, the villain was villainous and the side characters were interesting, and it was a very satisfying all around HOA. Very enjoyable read!
