Ali Hazelwood is in her YA bag. If people are waiting for this woman to miss you’re going to be waiting a while. I read a book by Ali and think she can’t outdo herself but I’m amazed every book I read. Her stories and simple and people may think they are repetitive, but I think her storytelling really works for her audience.
The characters in this book might be my favorite she has written. I think Ali transitions into Young Adult very well!
This story was fun in the sense that our main character hasn’t played chess in years, and randomly decides to play on day and beats the #1 champion. I also want to point out that you do not need to know much about chess to follow along which I really appreciated.
Romance is alive and well in this book! I found myself squealing and kicking my feet at scenes between our two leads.
This cover (along with every single Ali cover) is fabulous. The artist she has contracted for her book needs a raise!
