"The Queen's Gambit" is one of my favorite books, so how could I resist a modern-day chess story? (Spoiler alert: I can't!) I like the idea of Mallory trying to help her family (and how, exactly, did chess tear them apart?), and moving away from chess, then being drawn back in by the potential money. I like the idea of her meeting the bad-boy of chess (Bennie, anyone?) and getting to know him. I can't wait to read to see how their story develops!
