I have not read any of Ali Hazelwood’s previous novels, but have heard glowing reviews from others in the book community. After reading a first look at Check & Mate, I must say I understand the hype! I am absolutely going to need to hunt down a copy of this book. I can already tell the protagonist is an intelligent, fierce woman, who will be so delightful to read about. Additionally, the chess champion romance premise is unique and exciting to me, especially after The Queen’s Gambit took the world by story several years ago. Check & Mate bumped quite a few books off my tbr to skyrocket straight to the top just now!
