I have to admit, that I wasn't a fan of the cover of "Check & Mate" by Ali Hazelwood. However, from the prologue to page 44 of the "sneak peek", I was hooked! The prologue gave a great introduction into the first chapter. Ms. Hazelwood has a talent with words. She did an amazing job of introducing her main character, Mallory, along with an original plot and well described setting. Even though this novel falls into the YA genre (which I am not), I found "Check & Mate" interesting and look forward to reading the remainder of this well-written novel.
