Why did this only have to be a first impression? It hooked me from the start and I didn't want to stop reading. Mal is a fascinating character. I am dying to know more about her backstory with her dad and chess. And then there is the glimpse into the enigmatic Nolan Sawyer. I had this on my to-be-read list before reading the first look, now I want to read it even more!
