I read another book by this author and unfortunately didn’t get the hype. But I was curious to hear more about this one both because of the description and because it’s YA. In this excerpt we meet Mallory while she’s listening to an interview of a guy just slightly older than her who is a chess prodigy. Then we flash forward to two years later when they play chess against each other. I enjoyed the excerpt, I’m interested in the storyline, and I absolutely, totally loved The Queen’s Gambit so the fact that this book is garnering comparisons makes me want to read it.
