Do I like romance books? Yes. Do I like Ali Hazelwood books? No, I LOVE them. And as a lifelong player of chess, I’m excited to see how she interweaves the two into a YA romance. Ali does a good job of making her characters likeable without being sickly sweet or leaning too hard into the typical romance tropes. I enjoyed the first look and can’t wait to see where it leads.
