It's supposed to be YA, yet there's tons of swearing and references to porn, but it's hard to believe that an 18-year-old wouldn't know what a "sex symbol" is when she knows the previously mentioned words (not to mention familiar with social media). And the love interest is 20 years old. Would've been better if it was New Adult, not YA. Plus, a lot of the real-world namedrops and social media apps date this book. Would've been better if it was made up.
Not interested in why the main character even cares about chess or if is there any inclination as to why she used to play and doesn't anymore. No internal conflict, just things happening to the character and suddenly being in the same room as the love interest. Wouldn't continue reading.
