Review: So this was my first Cassandra Claire book (I know, shocking), but after seeing such great reviews for it I desperately wanted to read it. I probably should have read TID before picking this up, but I'm sooooo impatient. 😂 Will I still read that series? Yes, even though this book more than likely had major spoilers. With so much uncertainty, I'm glad to know it all works out in that series.
This book has a whole host of characters and a great deal of the first 150ish pages explains who everyone is and how everyone is connected. I really want Cordelia to be real and so she can immediately become my friend. She was such a genuinely kind and thoughtful character that I ultimately loved. Another character that left me profoundly intrigued was Matthew. He was such a well written complex character that I can't wait to see how his character unfolds. While these two were standouts for me, this book was full of amazingly well written characters.
I'm in awe at Claire's ability to masterfully create a whole other world that I savored every page. The way this story was written made every aspect of this book feel extremely realistic so I can't wait to read her other books. While this is a long one at 624 pages, it's definitely worth reading. I hope y'all enjoy it as much as I did.
