I am a very big fan of Cassandra Clare and her Shadowhunters series, I do not even bother to read a description of these books, I just immediately purchase the new books. Chain of Gold did not disappoint. It is a prequel to the Mortal Instruments series but post Infernal Devices series. I love the characters that are introduced, and it is so fun that you get a glimpse of some older characters too.
This is set in a fantasy world with teenagers coming to age and exploring their world. I would recommend reading the other books in this massive series before picking this one up. I find that all of the writing is easy to follow when you read the books in order. There is heart pounding suspense, and heart wrenching drama throughout this book and the rest of its trilogy. I would definitely recommend it to anyone interested in getting into young adult fantasy.
