I have followed Cassandra Clare's work since The Mortal Instruments with the exception of The Infernal Devices and some short stories and novellas here and there. To be completely honest, the books and timelines after The Dark Artifices (my favorite series thusfar) is very hard to follow. Entering the book I had no idea who the main characters were, but from reading the first book in the Infernal Devices series, I knew who their parents were. Given that I had not finished TID, I was very confused on the context of the story.
However, the dialogue was easy to follow and gave me a good sense of the characters and their personalities, and world-building was for sure a plus. Clare is very good at doing such things.
