Let's start off with that Cassandra Clare is an amazing writer and this book just further proves it. This book is the sequel to The Infernal Devices and although it mentions many of the key characters, it does an amazing job on keeping the focus on the next generation of Shadowhunters. Although you do not really have to read The Infernal Devices to keep up with the plot, I HIGHLY recommend doing it. You will not only fall in love with the characters of the Infernal Devices, you will adore their kids in The Last Hours Series. Cassandra does it again with setting up a strong female led who is Cordelia Carstairs. You will be rooting for her from start to finish no matter how stubborn she gets. Her new friend group has an amazing balance that I had such a hard time choosing a favorite (but on the down low, Anna is my favorite and once you read Chain of Gold you'll understand!)
