Cassandra Clare's word-building is always effortless. That is a given. Her characters ring true, each distinct and vibrant in their own way. Somehow, her characters each feel like immediate friends, on the page at least, and I need to follow them through their rough journey ahead.
Not having read her before, I was nonetheless pulled right into her world. No, that is untrue. I was grabbed and, like James when he slipped for a moment into the Shadow world, it was utterly beyond my control.
