The cover of Chain of Gold is absolutely gorgeous. I would definitely be drawn to it, if I saw it sitting on the shelf. Also, the sneak peek was very intriguing. I like that it’s clearly a historical style story, but it doesn’t overwhelm you with that fact. I also love that there is that paranormal fantasy aspect of demons/angels/vampires and such. I do feel that it’s well written and the story flows well. I wanted to keep reading even though I was a bit confused about certain things. All that being said the number of POV’s in this one was a bit overwhelming. There were three different perspectives in just the first 36 pages. I personally have not read the other series that this one is in the same world as, so many things this book assumes one should know, I do not know. The sneak peek honestly felt like an info dump, but oddly I still couldn’t place why the info was important. All the character’s last names seem familiar just from watching the show based off the first series of books, so I’m confused at how all these people connect in the past opposed to the future. Anyway. I’m not sure if I’ll pick this one up. Possibly. I’ll have to investigate more whether or not this series can be read without reading the others.
