I've never read any of the Shadowhunters, in fact, fantasy isn't my normal go to at all. That being said - the main concepts and lingo were so well explained that I never felt out of my depths. The characters were all developed well for such a short passage - I feel invested in everyone from James to Sona. I'm beyond impressed with the snappy detailed writing and how well it all flows together.
