A Firing On All Cylinders Fantasy from a Master of the Genre
I've always seen the Shadowhunters series while shelving books at a bookstore I used to work at, and figured it would no doubt be entertaining for the teen set, but probably not the kind of work I would want to pursue reading.
This is one time where I'm glad I was so wrong.
This set up to a new run in her long-running Shadowhunters series is rather interesting both for its turn of the century time period, and Cassandra's Clare's real ability at quickly setting scenes and delivering a lot of action just as fast. Even in this small sampler, five pages was all it took for me to want to follow this group and go back to start the original series on which this is based on. Action and fantasy here combine in ways that really make you immediately invested. I'm definitely hooked on seeing how this goes!
